sofiaviolet: sign reading "ART" on a paint-splattered wall (ART!)
No pictures today; my outfit was kind of boring. Pinstripe pants and a Threadless shirt. (I will try to get up a picture of my jacket, though, because it's fucking cool. Black, with larger versions of these clasps.)

The good news is that the next few days may be warm enough for me to wear some of the cute stuff I picked out. And I have actual reasons for leaving the house, which forces me to put clothes on. \o/

Plans! I am having a busy weekend, it looks like. Friday night is Slutbutter, because Cameryn Moore (most of my weekend is because Cameryn Moore). Saturday, I want to go to Sowa Open Market, and then Ellie and I are heading out to Wilmington again for roller derby. Sunday is the Flea at MIT again (note to self: visit ATM beforehand), and then Phone Whore, and then Fuckbucket.

My Monday is currently 100% empty, and I am going to nap hard, motherfuckers. I will have earned it.

And since it's now technically Friday... [community profile] boston (which I co-mod, as of recently). And [community profile] unfunnybusiness_dw exists. I love reading [community profile] steampunk_nusantara.

I'm actually pondering pruning my dreamroll... so I suppose this would be a good time to declare amnesty: if you're tired of my face or my links or my frequency of posting or my whatever, you can unsubscribe!

Thanksgiving was good. [personal profile] solarcat, Marina and Leroy came over.

We had duck gumbo. Ellie, in her determination to use the entire duck, rendered a whole bunch of fat to make the roux (too much; we now have a little container of duck fat in the fridge for future use), and made duck stock.

We also had rice dressing, apple pie, and cookies.

Friday, I was pretty exhausted. Ellie and I flyered for Slutcracker. We drove to Central Square, ate at Fourburgers, and went over to The Donkey Show.

Having been offline for a while by that point, I didn't have advance warning that Amanda Palmer and Neil Gaiman would be there. In retrospect, this was probably good. Much as I joke about how the fourth wall doesn't exist for anyone any more, I appreciate a sort of meatspace fourth wall - I'll go to signings and meet-and-greet events if my companions want to, but that's not an experience I seek on my own.

On Saturday, [personal profile] solarcat and I went to see Cobra Starship. It was a Boys Like Girls show, technically, but we were there for Cobra and we had m&g with them. [personal profile] solarcat had them sign her Harass Gabe shirt. I went with "something random" - the back of a 6x8 canvas board. I will twitpic some photos of the finished painting, as that seems to be the best method of getting them to the band.

Bandom post.

Fall Out Boy show last night was good. So glad I ran into [livejournal.com profile] insunshine, [livejournal.com profile] gigantic and [livejournal.com profile] 1001cranes.

Hey Monday were all right. I like Cassadee's voice, but only when she's singing. Metro Station were fun. I thought their setup was kind of weird. All Time Low were all right musically, but all signs point to them being douchebags, so no. Cobra Starship were tons of fun, as always, but Gabe really needs to stop touring for a while and take care of his voice, dammit. Fall Out Boy were pretty good, and they played a nice set. The screens kind of confused me, but I guess it's better than the fucking wall of fire they had last time I saw them (I was surprised that Andy didn't melt on that tour, tbh).

Just glanced at a picture of this guy I went to school with in New Orleans (ah, facebook, how useful you are), and he looks kind of a lot like Joe. Heh.

epic win

I don't have anything coherent to say about the Really Really Ridiculously Good-Looking Weekend. In essence, Cobras \o/ (is there a fangs up emoticon?) and I found three new bands to listen to. Traveling with friends is fun, but I should probably plan certain practical things better.

The only fail here is that I've actually been working on this post since Wednesday.

Cobra Starship presale info!
Ok girls, let's get serious for a minute: so the point of the Really Really Ridiculously Good-Looking Tour is to help people. What people? I don't know, people who need help.

But honestly, we wanted our first headline tour to be an intimate and unforgettable experience. So we booked the shows in small venues (most of them without barricades) and we made the tickets really cheap so that everyone could come. We think (and obviously hope) that most of these shows will sell out, but we want to make sure that our die-hard fans get to see us. So we are doing a special pre-order just for you guys this Tuesday (11/27) at 5pm. If you pre-order you, not only will you be guaranteed entry into the most ridiculously good-looking tour ever, but you will also get a limited edition tour poster to hang on your wall and show off to your poseur little cousin during the holidays. ;)

Here is the link: click! click! shoot em up yeah!

Get em while they're hot, because: just because we have chiseled abs and stunning features, doesn't mean that we too can't not die in a freak gasoline fight accident.

... SHIT! I meant to give Mom my copy of Viva La Cobra before she left. I guess it can be care package times now.

ETA: I think this is the most comments I have ever had to a post, haha. Fangirls FTW!!!! ♥

Short story is due Tuesday. I meant to turn in Blood Is Sweeter, but the story I have wound up writing is set a few years earlier than Blood Is Sweeter (and a few years after other stuff I'm working on), and could possibly be soundtracked exclusively by Cobra Starship (in fact, I may title it The City Is At War).

Word count: 2236
Page count: 8/~15
Plot: Sam and Al have met and are flirting. Soon to come: a lunch not-really-a-date, a party that makes the papers, a parental freakout, a lunch really-is-a-date, angst and makeouts.

In other writing news, here's the tentative dramatis personae for the story tentatively titled Warped Omens.

sofiaviolet: the problem with reality is the lack of background music (background music)
I went to the Wendy's on Mass Ave for lunch (I prefer it to the one in Curry because a. you can get a smaller fry with combos which means I actually eat all the food I buy and b. they have a ketchup dispenser instead of handing over like three packets when you ask). So I was sitting there, eating french fries and staring blankly at the icky grey day, when I hear something that sounds kind of familiar. It's Dance, Dance!

And if that didn't put enough of a smile on my face, then the guy who looked just like Nate from Cobra Starship would have. He walked by right in the middle of the song.

In reference to my previous post, I just overheard a line of conversation about the Beatles as the apocalyptic horsepersons. Apparently today is the day for a rockalypse. Or something.
