Today's post is slightly late. I went to work and was super-productive! And then I did stuff other than read my dreamroll when I got home, and then Ellie and I went to get groceries. And then we didn't finish dinner until half past ten. /o\

Daily Song (right-click): Taking Back Sunday - Sink Into Me

I wore a skirt today!* I also made a very poor decision with regards to shoes. I've worn this pair before, but I guess never without socks or tights or something. I could feel that they were rubbing on my heels, but I didn't pay much attention until I was already at work and had a bunch of boxes out, since it didn't hurt that much. And then I happened to actually look at my feet, and there was kind of a lot of blood going on. I had to use four bandaids from the archives supply (normally reserved for treating paper cuts, methinks), and shall be wearing sandals for several days, until the wounds heal.

*Skirts are a big deal for me, since they take more effort than pants. I find them harder to coordinate with tops, and I tend to get nasty razor burn when I shave my legs, and I have to figure out shoes (since socks look dumb, and I don't own many pairs of stockings/pantyhose, and *points up* going without is not always feasible), and they're harder to wear in cold weather. So my skirt collection is sadly underutilized.

Meanwhile, some news and updates on features that people have been waiting on: rename tokens are very close to being completed (the first round of code review is in process), vgifts are close to being completed (the first draft of the patch is done, but will likely require a few more drafts, because of the complexity), [staff profile] mark is working on cross-site friends page reading as his primary development priority right now and estimates sometime in June, [personal profile] foxfirefey is working on importing community posts from other LJ-based services and doesn't have a specific time estimate yet but is giving it the majority of her development attention, and [personal profile] fu is concentrating on the mockups of the update page redesign that will be a preface to draft/scheduled posts, which we hope to have done sometime during the summer.

I hope your feet heal quickly! Dicky feet suck. :(

I have about three times as many skirts as pants. I also had to reorganise my drawers because I have too many socks for them to be in the same drawer as my underwear. Ahh, pretty kneelengths, why so pretty! But I rarely notice if I walk out the door with green skirt and bright red shirt, so.

I have similar issues with skirts, even though I really like wearing them because they're pretty.

I've been laid out with a cold, so I haven't had the energy/eyes to participate yet, but I wanted to say I really appreciate your links round-ups!

ETA: I love skirts, but have the same problem with shaving+tops/shoes coordination - urgh, clunky shoes with a skirt = not good. But I love clunky shoes! I get out of the habit of wearing them over winter, since all my winter shoes are clunky, and it always takes me a few weeks/couple of months in spring/summer before I have the coordination thing worked out again.

I guess that depends on your personal style and interests. I think it can really work. I love clunky shoes with knee-length skirts in medium to heavy weight materials. Clunky shoes with light fluttery skirts is harder to pull off (but I know people who can), but it's a lot easier to mix it with a heavier cotton in an a-line skirt or a high pencil.

I'm also really fond of the knee-boots and miniskirts combo, which is a good way to pull out the knee socks and winter boots in the summer. Pair it with a tank-top, yum!

I also think there are people who can pull it off - I don't think I'm one of them, though :o)

Cf. above, I think some people can definitely pull off the look, but I can't - or my clunky shoes aren't awesome enough :o)

I forget that people shave/care about shaving. It's been 2 years (and a bit) since I've touched my leg hair, and at least 4 years since I've shaved with a razor. (I have a set of hair clippers that gets "close enough" without a blade protector, and I was not above using them to trim my leg hair.) There's something nice about not shaving.

I sympathize with your shoe mistake. I have often worn what I thought were a comfortable pair of new shoes and ended up having to wear trainers for the rest of the week because my daily commute involves at least five miles of walking.

Thank you for the signal boost!

OUCH!

My trick? Knee socks. Most of my skirts hit the knee, so it doesn't look too odd. I also have a bunch of shorter leggings that I pull up to just cover the top of the knee socks, if it's cold.

Also, the Neutrogena "Oil Free Acne Stress Control" stuff works wonders on me for preventing the bumps and itching. It's a salicylic acid exfoliator you put on under moisturizer. I also second the comment of hair clippers. Minor stubble? Much preferable if I have to shave regularly for work.

Ack! Your poor feet!! I hope they'll heal speedily.

I haven't been using a lot of skirts the last few years, got out of the habit for some reason. I've bought a couple lately though so we'll see if I can get back into the habit again. Since I don't have to worry about looking professional I never mess about with shaving though. Not even in the summer when it's too hot for leggings. I'm old enough to value comfort over appearances these days ;-) The only shoes I can wear without socks are sandals and textile shoes so that's what I wear during the summer almost exclusively.

Oh, I hate when shoes do that to me. There was one time where I had to wear my sister's shoes to an interview, and one shoe started rubbing up against my ankle every time I took a step. By the time I got home, my skin was loose and the thing was bleeding and it was an awful mess. So painful.
