I get a lot of my clothes secondhand; it tends to be a bit cheaper (or a lot cheaper) and it makes shopping more fun. I love ebay, which is where I got at least half the clothes I acquired my senior year of high school and freshman year of college.

I really covet these shoes - they have that awesome oil slick effect going on. I would be seriously considering buying them if they had shorter heels - 4-inch heels and tiny spindly heels are both bad when it comes to me staying upright, so combining them into one shoe can only lead to personal injury. /o\ They're also not super-practical. (I also saw a similar pair in white, but they probably would have been too small.)

This necklace is also gorgeous, but I don't think I am big enough to wear it - too short and too thin.

As for something I did buy, I love cowl neck tops. I find them flattering, comfy, classy, and almost as easy to coordinate as t-shirts.

I also bought a pair of vintage galoshes that fit over high heels, which seems incredibly dumb but actually makes a lot of sense - it rains pretty frequently in Boston, and when it does, I am really limited in my choice of shoes. Paradoxically limited, even - my pants tend to be too long, so I want to wear shoes that lift my hems up out of puddles, but I can't wear my assorted heels and pumps because they'll get fucked up and/or flooded.

I have not figured out the appeal of actively seeking it out, although I have watched it when I visited my parents - BBC America is one channel they'll turn on and then not turn off. It was pretty funny.

I know! But my ankles can't take it. I've found a much less dangerous pair with iris black sequins that I might get instead. (Sequins are totally appropriate for the surprisingly-frequent social occasions involving burlesque that have begun to happen to me over the past year.)

That necklace is glorious, I totally understand why you were tempted. Those galoshes seem very practical.

It's funny that I almost never buy clothes secondhand because I buy a lot of stuff for my home at thrift stores. I think I need to start checking out the clothing section at the recycling store more often, not just the textile and household paraphernalia sections.

I have actually been quasi-forbidden from buying more household goods - between my mother's habit of sending stuff (like a dozen pillows, wtf) and the fact that we already have necessities, my services are no longer required. *sniff*
