Each of these is geared toward people on my flist who watch and like Supernatural (or who would probably like it if they did watch it *cough*
zachens*cough*) but aren't really fandom types.

Author's summary: A special song follows the Winchesters through time.
This is a great look at the Winchesters as a family. I like Mary. Wee!chesters are a real favourite of mine, and this is adorable. Dean as a babysitter for the whole neighbourhood works so very well. And it really took me way, way too long to figure out where Mary got the songs from... not until the boys figured it out.

Author's summary: If Reapers could be said to have human emotion--which they would totally deny--then it would be fair to say that most of them dreaded The Gathering.
This is really Prachettesque. I swear there's a Discworld book with some scenes in it rather a lot like this fic. Dean has already escaped Reapers twice on the show, and this story just takes that and runs with it, all the way to the silly conclusion.

No author's summary.
You just know that Dean did all the domestic stuff: the cooking and cleaning and mending and whatnot. John wouldn't think about it and at first Sam was too young, then too spoiled. So this is a story about Dean's culinary skills and how he acquired them. It's awesome just for that, but the fact that the two dishes holding the story together are red beans and rice and lasagna (and the search for John's mother's recipe) just is so very close to home. And the ending just rips my heart out.
My only nitpick is this (and my mother can correct me if I'm wrong and don't know how to cook): I've never heard of needing roux for red beans and rice. Never.
