The Saints won the Superbowl, whee! It still does not seem real.

Catholic schools in New Orleans have the day off. The archbishop made it so. *jealousface*

Today I am wearing a t-shirt from Rock'n'Bowl (it has a fleur de lis on it and is black with gold print, and also a New Orleans institution), the Mardi Gras earrings [livejournal.com profile] kythryne of Wyrding Studios made me, and one of my two Mardi Gras pendants (because at some point I acquired a second one, apparently).

I finally caught up with my June targets (one bad day took about a week to recover from), and I'm only about 4000 words behind my 2009 targets. Currently at 10475 for June and 157494 for the year. This is good.

Does anyone still need/want a Dreamwidth invite code? I sent one to an anon commenter back in mid-May and it's still unused. :\

Back to Boston tomorrow. :(

IDK if I want a nap, or to fight through the post-lunch/zomg HOT drowsiness. We took a very nice drive on the way home from lunch, though. Whee pretty houses.

sofiaviolet: crown and text: get excited and make things (get excited and make things)
Still in New Orleans. Most of what we wanted to do has been done, which is awesome.

I'm getting back into the groove of writing my daily words - April was a busy month for me, and May was kind of a flop. I'm not doing anything crafty while I'm in New Orleans because I don't have my stuff, but I need to come up with some good metrics for evaluating my crafty output. That might be good to track in terms of time, because I can spend a lot longer on a painting than a pendant. Unless I want to track my handmade endeavors separately - jewelry by the piece, paintings by time, knitting by... idk, since I'm still smack in the middle of learning how to knit.

Whatever. Point is, I will eventually need a better spreadsheet.*

We're having crawfish etouffee (I hope that's right) tonight, but it'll be quite a while before it's ready. *sigh* I've already had two snacks and I'm getting hungry again already.

* I use a spreadsheet full of equations to help motivate myself, because it's very effective to watch the numbers change across the entire spreadsheet.

Home.

sofiaviolet: wrought-iron fence and crumbling tomb in St. Louis No. 1 in New Orleans (so goth i hang out in graveyards)
I'm in New Orleans. So far we've eaten at three of my favorite restaurants.

I also have contacts now, mostly for concert purposes. DNW broken glasses from failtastic crowds. Contacts suck so much less this time around. Last time they actually hurt my eyeballs.

The van just broke, of course, so Mom and Dad are out bringing it to the dealership for a new onboard computer. Dad doesn't want to rent a car for until we get it back, but if we don't, then we are stuck at home until the car is fixed - truck only seats two. And since lunch today is our last chance to go to Casamento's...

EDIT: We decided to walk/take the streetcar, and also decided to call in advance about their hours and policies and shit, and they're already closed for the summer. Leftover Chinese from yesterday's lunch it is.

I'm not going to be making the effort to crosspost the del links to my LJ any more. (Entries posted in that manner won't auto-crosspost and I can't remember to do it manually.) Not that most people probably care about that.

That said...

I will be in New Orleans soon. Flying in May 27th and flying back to Boston on June 12th. I'm putting together a list of things to do while I'm home in my spare time at work (Big Boss needs to sign off on the next step of my project but she won't be back for another hour), so if you want to claim a chunk of my time for shenanigans, now would be the time.

I love my job. :D Just throwing that out there.

My alarm clock might not be broken after all. *stares at it suspiciously* I'll test it out tomorrow. And speaking of broken stuff, I really hope my mom replaces the CD player in her car before I come home. I want to give her lots of music for her commute! And listen to it with her while we drive to the mall/French Quarter/Magazine Street/grocery store/Elmwood/Taqueria Corona/Five Happiness/assorted delicious New Orleans restaurants.

music for my mom (also taking suggestions lol)
• Leathermouth
• Fall Out Boy (Folie A Deux, since she has their other albums already)
• Thursday
• Patrick Wolf

I am about 4000 words behind on my writing, but I feel pretty okay about it. Because writing is important, but so is having a life where I run into people I know and hang out with friends and leave my apartment. Besides, this weekend is looking quiet, so I can catch up some. And really, what's 4k, in the grand scheme of 410k?

Week in the Life Game:
For one week, you are to post photographs taken during the day.

Rules:
1. You must take between 6 and 8 new photographs per day. Fuck that.
2. Your WITL must be consecutive. No skipping days.
3. You must post your photographs at the end of that day, sometime after the last picture is taken.
4. Each photograph must have the time taken beneath and a title, with no other explanation.
5. You must post these rules at your first entry, then link back to it for the other six days so that people will know wtf you're doing.
6. Your post must say "A Week in the Life of [your name/username], Volume [whatever day you're on]."

This will be two Weeks In The Life, because I'll be in New Orleans for two weeks.

You know, I don't look like a punk. I've got hair that's that vaguely purple dark red that you only get from a bottle of hair dye. I wear jeans without any rips (except that one pair that's getting really old, and also too small).
But, oh, the music and atmosphere and everything… so good.

Yesterday afternoon, I went shopping. It was some sort of Scottish heritage event this weekend, and there were a bunch of tartan-covered poster boards at Lakeside. I took rather more interest in this event than in any other, similar, event - I'm one-sixteenth Macmillan.
At Hot Topic, I got a Gryffindor shirt. Too bad I'm really a Ravenclaw. I plan on ordering a Muggle shirt, which I really want and which was not in that shop. We oohed and ahed over the stickers. She, surprisingly, found many of them amusing. I also got many faerie and dragon postcards. I think I shall tape them to my ceiling. I purchased, also, the 2003 Warped Tour compilation. And I made my mother listen to it in the car. I also got a black gothic-"S" patch. I used to have many little pins, but I misplaced them en masse. Hence, I bought some more.
We went next to Bath and Body Works. I now smell like a combination of Sun-Ripened Raspberry, Moonlight Path, Peony, Orange Ginger, and Sheer Freesia.
I got some jeans from American Eagle which were on sale. Huzzah!
At Target, which was down at Clearview, I bought a composition notebook and
Punk-O-Rama 8. The link goes to Hot Topic because that's the link I had on hand. Sorry.

I haven't been Catholic inside since I was a little kid, and I've been Pagan for almost a year now. That doesn't matter, though. I'm still an altar server, and I'm still getting "Altar Server of the Year" awarded to me. WTF?

I left the house way too early, and got to Riverside Indoor FootballSoccer Arena a half hour before Melissa said she'd be there. My parents and I sat in the car for about forty-five minutes, listening to my new CDs. Melissa finally showed up, and I said hello to her and Zach. I ran into Evan, who used to go to Country Day. He remembered me, even though I wasn't all that memorable when he knew me. I saw Crack Baby Joey, too, and I met Kelly. So, hello to all of you, if you ever stumble over here.
The bands played on the mezzanine level. Logan, who books all the shows at Riverside, let me in for free. Thanks, Logan! I have no idea what the first band was called, but they were fantastic. A bunch of guys started up this mosh pit, and they kept knocking over one of the mic stands. I stood by the guys with the recording equipment - somebody was recording everything. I think it was Melissa and Zach and Ottie's stuff, with someone they hired manning it. They have all the necessary equipment and are thinking of starting a label. It costs twenty bucks for them to record you, Zach said. If you're in the New Orleans area and you're interested, contact me and I'll put you in touch with them.
The second band, the Sofa Kings, were, as Zach put it, "so-fuh-king good." They kept getting the crowd involved. They told us to jump and we jumped. I now know not to try to hold onto a purse or wear a largish, heavy pewter pentacle while doing that. I have a bruise right between my boobs now, and I may have scrambled my cell phone because I dropped it so much. Plus, my feet hurt a lot. I spent most of yesterday standing up, after all. But, I now know I can enter a trance state at a concert if I ponder existentialism and stand really close to an amp and move around a lot.
Fall of Ignorance played last. I don't know if it was because I was standing right there, but I could really hear Melissa's bass. She was complaining a while ago that it wasn't working right. Ottie got new drums, and he still carries them around in the bags. It takes a long time to set up and take down because of that. F.O.I. is recording an album right now, and they're going to have it pressed. Zach says it'll be done kind of soon. *crosses fingers*
After, we hung around for a long time and Melissa drove me home.

So fun. So tired. *falls over*
