I was almost defeated by a cardboard box today.

I don't want to talk about it.

Nah, actually I do. There were some old boxes that needed flattening for disposal, so I was given the task. In theory, I should have been able to unfold them all.

In reality: okay, listen. Whatever over-engineering asshole named this model of cardboard box the Simplimatic? You know not the hour or the day, but I will come for you and dismember you as I dismembered your hellish little creations. That is to say, slowly and with a utility knife.

(There were a few other styles of boxes, one of which also required the intervention of the utility knife.)

And then: my earbuds. The right one felt kind of funny, so I pulled it out and it was missing its little protective cover. Meh, said I, and stuck it back in because hell if I'm going to put up with Orange Line fuckery without some Sleater-Kinney.

I got home, did the dishes (more on this in a moment), and noticed that my right ear felt weird again. I poked at it and discovered the earbud cover, just hanging out in my ear.

Anyway, the dishes. Because Ellie went on a Clean All The Things spree yesterday, there were all my little candy dishes and shot glasses to be washed, in addition to the regular dishes. And my rubber gloves got overrun by water. :(

There were also some leftovers to get rid of. A slice of apple pie, somewhat moldy. And some unidentifiable formerly-food. I thought it might have been some kind of appetizer involving zucchini, or maybe small eggplant pizzas.

No. Turns out it was scones.

Death to awkward cardboard boxes. We get textbook samples in these ridiculously overtaped ones that have to be wrested open, and of course I never have a stanley knife on me when I need one. Fortunately, the scalpels are easy to find.

Also, scones. Yay for cleaning, but the scones *shudders*

\o/ scalpels! (My sister has at least one friend who actually carries a scalpel instead of a pocket knife. I find myself moderately concerned, since I don't know that scalpels really come with the right kind of safety features, but I haven't heard any reports of injury so it's okay.)
