Roller derby: awesome! We had to learn the rules and scoring practices through osmosis (and really could not hear the commentators well at all). We also ate some fried dough (truth in advertising!), which was basically a large flat beignet. Nomnomnom.

This morning, we went to the Flea at MIT. The original plan was for me to take the train; Ellie was driving but she had already promised every possible seat in her car to people from Wireless Club. But two cancellations later, I had a ride, yay.

Ellie picked up two larger dividers for woodworking purposes from the same guy; she got a bunch of tools for $45 (a savings of over 50% off our guesstimated retail values), and I got everything in the bottom picture for $18. There were plenty of tools, and plenty of geekery. A++ event, would recommend.

Ooo shiny. I don't know why the idea of tools for metalsmithing (or hackable into something useful for metalsmithing) hadn't occurred to me! I have friends involved in running the event, but I haven't gone since I was a freshman (when I bought among other things a giant tower of CD-Rs I never ended up using... oh freshman-riv, so silly sometimes).
