Who wants a $winterholiday card?
I am screening comments to this post so people can post their addresses; I will unscreen comments that are not addresses.
Alternately, you may use either DW private message or LJ private message, or email sofiaviolet@sofiaviolet.com.
Please indicate which kind of card you would like (general winter theme, certain religious holiday, secular/commercial christmas, etc.).
$winterholiday wishlist meme
I could only come up with five things, which I have conveniently divided into two categories.
Things I can make other things out of:
1. Yarn and knitting needles. I am a n00b to this, but a determined one. If you provide me with a return address, I will make you something (not necessarily out of your yarn) and send it to you.
2. Beads. If you provide me with a return address, I will make you something (not necessarily out of your beads) and send it to you.
Things I collect:
3. Hello Kitty. Doesn't matter what it is. Hello fuckin' Kitty - I heart kawaii.
4. Badges/buttons/pins/whatever you call them. In particular, queer buttons and feminist buttons.
5. Violets. Much like Hello Kitty, it doesn't matter what the object is.
You can email me (sofiaviolet@sofiaviolet.com) or pm to get my mailing address.
random handmade meme
The first five people to respond to this post specifically opting into the random handmade meme will get something made by me! My choice. For you.
This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
- What I create will be just for you.
- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
- You will receive your item within six months of making your request.
- You will have no clue what the item is going to be. It may be a painting. It may be a knitted object. It could be a piece of jewelry. Who knows?*
- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.
* Please please please disclose any fiber or metal allergies and any objections to animal-derived products. I like you! I do not want to make you break out in a nasty rash or violate your ethics.
If you want to repost this meme, that would be awesome, but I am not going to make it a requirement.

$winterholiday wishlist meme
Step One
- Make a post (public, locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your journal. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your journal, so that the holiday joy will spread.
STEP TWO
- Surf around your reading list/friendslist/dreamroll (or friendsfriends/network, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call. There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
