Yeah, these are the second go at my ears - the first ones were via piercing gun and I was a tween or thereabouts. That ended poorly and I had a small lump of scar tissue in each earlobe for many years after.
I can actually wear any kind of metal as long as the holes aren't already irritated, at least for a while. After a couple of days it sometimes gets uncomfortable, so I keep my earrings of unknown and known-irritant metals for occasional wear.
