It was a brand new project that I opened on the 2nd, and I hadn't closed the application since then. It's supposed to make frequent backups (which it sort of did; there's a file, but it's all the way corrupted), and it's supposed to prompt you to save the project with a nifty file name (in the past, it's done this within an hour of the project being open, but it never asked me for this project).
As far as old versions go, I have earlier attempts at writing more or less this story and a list of important events that is in the wrong order. I made that list from the old drafts, and I wrote the lost outline from that list, so I can reconstruct stuff.
