lazyweb to the rescue

Internets! I am supposed to write a little blurb about myself that will be sent out to the entire library in the form of a "look! shiny new student employee" email. Tell me what I should include? EDIT: Or you can suggest things for me to include in my profile, in the same area as that quote from [personal profile] hagiologic.

[personal profile] sofiaviolet is two-thirds awesomesauce, one-third burrito. She is the product of a moon liaison between two amorous space adventurers, and her feet rarely touch the ground for that reason. Her hobbies include potted plants, kink, and mangos.

Just things about yourself that you want graduate school admissions and future employers to see. Maybe stick to qualifications and skills. Yes, this is from her mother and no matter how awesome I know she is, the real world of judgment enters here. Love you, sweetie.

Why not concerts? Don't mention the really fringe bands, but some are mainstream. Or don't mention either names or genre, just concerts. Also don't forget the creative parts: writes (poetry sounds quite respectable; don't get too specific), makes jewelry, paints. No one says hobbies have to be museum worthy. Your skills are definitely better than "average".

Liking concert-going is fine. Maybe also toss in your favourite books, or your favourite genre of books. It's a pain in the neck to write these things, especially since probably only a handful of people will read them.

Enjoys live music. Sounds classy, like going to jazz clubs and symphonies and shit.

Basement-dweller [personal profile] sofiaviolet is the Gerard Way of the Library: art, poetry, drama and dorkiness.

Seriously, though, this is always my least favourite part of anything, when I have to talk about my hobbies. A passion for live music sounds innocuous enough, and you have art and jewellery as very respectable hobbies.
