Wheeee!
So my Saturday totally sucked!
Remember how I was really worried about making my connection at JFK? It turned out not to be an issue at all, but for all the wrong reasons.
Things started off a little worryingly - they didn't start boarding my flight until 25 minutes after they were supposed to. But then it was a very empty flight on a very tiny plane, so we left right on time.
We got into JFK 25 minutes early, and then my next flight was supposed to depart from the next gate over. Woooo! I got a chocolate-covered chocolate ice cream bar and sat down to wait.
At which point I noticed a bunch of texts from Orbitz, and started getting calls from an 800 number I didn't recognize. After enough calls, I finally picked up, at which point I got hung up on! And after a few more calls, I picked up again and got a very long-winded computerized voice informing me that my flight had been delayed and I'd been automatically rebooked on a later flight to Grand Forks. Annoying. So I let Cory know, called my mom and whined at her for over 40 minutes. I also attempted to teach myself to use my lovely new Turkish spindle.
And then! My flight! It was canceled! FML!
But Latoya the lovely wonderful Delta employee at JFK rebooked me! On a flight out of LaGuardia. She gave me a taxi voucher and sent me on my way. I met an older couple who had been on my flight and were also on their way to LaGuardia, so we shared a cab.
I made it onto that flight just fine, although it was kind of scary because we didn't have much time. Fortunately, security moved quickly and the gate wasn't far away. And then I made it to Minneapolis, but nearly didn't make it onto my flight there, because my boarding pass was fucked. I was the first person to attempt to board and the last one to make it onto the plane.
But I did finally make it to Grand Forks, four hours after I should have. And then I slept for 16 hours.
