Goats belong outside?

Writing this up for [personal profile] azurelunatic and [personal profile] zarhooie, but probably great lulz for everyone else, too.

My mother lived off-campus her senior year of undergrad. The people in the apartment downstairs were a group of male college students.

One day, they decided to cook a whole goat on a spit. Over charcoal. Inside their apartment.

To be fair to those dudes, they did have the front door open. And they were originally from a country whose houses were constructed such that whole goats could be roasted over coals indoors. They just failed to consider the differences in architecture, and the existence of their upstairs neighbors.

Mom and her roommate were able to convince them to move the whole operation outside, thus averting carbon monoxide problems all around. \o?

(Other stories from my mom: no matter how hard I try, I will never be as terrible at cooking as her roommate who tried to boil oil and who tried to put buns in the oven still in their plastic bag.)

It does make sense -- it would not be the first thought in one's mind that people should design houses such that goats should not be cooked inside them.
