Ellie woke up to a small hole in the bathroom ceiling and a bird hiding out (and freaking out) inside the living room curtains.

(Bird has been returned to the great outdoors. Bathroom door is staying closed until the likelihood of further avian houseguests goes down. Landlady has been called.)

Yeah, it was really something.

Landlady hasn't responded yet, but we have had no further bird incursions. Or falling bits of ceiling.

I think we would have freaked out more if the bird hadn't been so thoroughly contained by the curtain.

Contractor begins fixing whatever the hell is wrong tomorrow. We think maybe the ceiling light/fan isn't hooked up to the vent properly. It would definitely account for the humidity damage to the ceiling (despite having a dehumidifier in the bathroom in addition to the fan) and could also account for the bird's ingress.
