I wanted to post this for May the Fourth, AKA Star Wars Day. It is a page and a half from the "Treasury Edition" of Marvel's adaptation of THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. And I'm posting it because I have a question about Yoda's original opinion of Luke Skywalker.

DEAR ABBY: I'm in my early 30s and recently met a very attractive woman my age. We are planning to get married. She wants us to be married as soon as possible because she has been divorced for the last seven years.

My problem is, she's extremely secretive about her past, especially the period between her divorce and our meeting. I have been open with her about my past, but when I ask about hers, she refuses to discuss it and says it has nothing to do with our relationship.

I have a feeling there may be something nasty she's hiding. I'm afraid I'm heading into a trap, but my love for her makes it tough to consider breaking up. Am I being too demanding? -- CONCERNED GUY IN THE SOUTH

DEAR CONCERNED GUY: If your intuition is screaming that your girlfriend's desire for a hasty marriage could spell trouble in the future, you should pay close attention to it. It is not "too demanding" to want to know what one's fiancee has been doing for the last seven years. Under no circumstances should you marry this woman without first talking to a lawyer, who I am sure will suggest doing a background check and/or drafting an ironclad prenuptial agreement.

I recently read Gerry Conway's original "The Amazing Spider-Man" run (the one that killed off Gwen Stacy and had the original Clone Story-Arc) and... am I the only one that sees this?

A couple of pieces are out about this switch-out in Winter Hill. The first piece I saw was this one:  https://boston.eater.com/2017/6/26/15872592/somerville-bread-company-expansion-union-square

The next piece was a bit more detailed on the new space in Union--it won't have a retail piece. But---stay tuned. The new produce shop will carry the bread still.

Produce-focused piece: http://www.bostonmagazine.com/restaurants/blog/2017/06/27/neighborhood-produce-location-somerville/

This one has some other tidbits: http://www.masslive.com/news/boston/index.ssf/2017/06/neighborhood_produce_supermark.html

I have utterly failed to get started. I am so tired and I think I have a cold and I want sleeeeep but I'm in the office. Meanwhile I have failed to get started today.

Need caffeine & public accountability. (My usual accountability partner, [profile] zulu_mom, has fled the city to organize a Canada Day shindig in the heartland of Alberta.)

Dear world, I must rewrite one section of exegesis today.

1. Get coke.
2. No, not that kind of coke, though it might actually help more.
3. Where was I?
4. Oh yeah. Get caffeinated soda.
5. OPEN DOCUMENTS.

6. WORK.
7. ???
8. Better exegesis.

Updates as they become available.

I'm frantically trying to finish a bunch of work before I go on holiday for two weeks in July, so time for blog is very limited. I'm hoping to have lots of leisurely catch-up time to post things like photos from Vienna and Spain.

Worst thing that happened today: I forgot my glasses on the counter by the mirrors in the ladies' toilets at Birmingham New Street Station. I realised this at exactly the moment my train to London was moving away from the platform.

Best thing that happened today: I received an e-mail alert titled "hggggggfgfg", which I assumed meant, "ALERT: Engineer's Cat Has Walked Across Their Keyboard." It was later claimed that this alert was issued because of "testing", which I can only mean "testing for robustness of cat-proof-ness", a test which the system has surely failed.

In conclusion, I give you the most recent studio portraits that nursery had done of the children (late April).
